I wanted to create spirit heads as part of my Native American section in my book. I kept thinking of how I was going to make this possible. I was searching on Instagram and I came across the above picture. I thought this was perfect for what I was trying to achieve. It would showcase my hair skills whilst still giving the feeling of what I was trying to portray. The important thing for me now was to start practising hairstyles for my looks so I could create the best ones possible...
This was my first practice at creating 3D hair. It wasn't working, something just didn't feel right with it. I was trying to create a look but I knew that I would have to practice more. I had two clear looks in my head I wanted to use but I felt that four in total would work in well in the final outcome. See more trials below...
Although I was happier with the second look, I still wasn't completely convinced...I decide that the best option would be to focus on my two strong looks i'd already 100% decided on and see what happened with time later on in the project...or if I would still want to use four looks.
